.1 PS CEUs approved. QAST Ethics credit approved!

This is a round table discussion and personal evaluation on how personal ethics effect professional ethics and are influenced by corporate ethics (those of the hearing consumer).

Educational Objectives:
The participants will:
-Identify 6 personal values and how they might affect their interpretation of the RID Code of Professional Conduct
-Then, identify how that interpretation can be influenced by the ethics of the
hearing consumers we work with.
-Identify which ethical powers they best exhibit and best respond to.

Power Point will be provided by instructor during meeting and available to students in subsequent email. Hand out will be shared virtually and sent via email with power point. Breakout session will be set up for small group discussion.

Presenter: Kerie Ljunghammar, QA IV/IV, BEI Basic.
Bio:

Kerie Ljunghammar is a QAST and BEI certified interpreter in the state of Oklahoma. Kerie graduated from ASLIS Interpreting School in Seattle Washington, May of 1997. After graduation she was an educational interpreter and church interpreter as well as several non-interpreting related jobs. In 2015 Kerie and her family moved to the Oklahoma City area where she enrolled in OSU-OKC’s Interpreter training program. After graduating with an Associate of Science in American Sign Language and an Associate of Applied Arts and Science in ASL Interpretation, she began a career in community interpreting and is currently interpreting in a variety of areas including medical, educational, religious, business, entertainment, and platform.

Kerie has been a friend of the Deaf community since she was a teen and has been professionally interpreting since 2018. She is currently enrolled in the William Woods University Interpreter Training Program and will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree Dec. 8, 2023. Her future career goals include the development of a mentoring program for ITP students and recent graduates.

While living in Washington State, Kerie and her husband, Darryl were entrepreneurs and owned several businesses in a variety of fields. Retail, education, and consulting were high on the list of fields their experience covered. They are currently partners with their son in a coffee shop located in Midwest City Oklahoma. Kerie has taken the lessons learned from those business experiences and has applied them to the business of interpreting.

In her spare time, Kerie loves hanging out with her animals on their hobby farm, 7 Acre Ranch, knit and bake bread. They are the proud parents of four amazing adults and grandparents to the most precious Princess on the planet (soon to be the big sister to another spectacular Princess)! Kerie loves to have friends come over to share food, fun, and great times.
