Are you jumping into private practice for the first time? Thinking about restructuring your business or updating some of your business practices? Join Ashley and Summer as they share their research and experience on Administration, Bookkeeping and Contracts. They'll discuss business structures, taxes, invoicing, contracts and more!

This workshop is for interpreters of all skill levels interested in freelance work and is offering professional studies in the amount of .3 CEUs at the little to none content knowledge level. This workshop will be presented in English.

This workshop will be held in the HSEC building located off of Reno Ave. in room 123. 

MEET THE PRESENTERS:


Ashley has been QAST certified since 2014, earning her QAST 5/5 in 2017. She obtained her RID National Interpreter Certification (NIC) in 2022. Her degrees include a Masters in ASL/English Interpretation from University of North Florida in 2019 and a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Deaf Education in 2020. She is an approved educational interpreter with the Oklahoma State Department of Education and holds the following teacher certifications: Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing (K-12), Early Childhood Education-Special Education, and Elementary-Special Education. She has served on the board of Oklahoma Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf in the following capacities: Member at Large (2017-2019), Secretary (2021-2023), and Parliamentarian for the upcoming 2023-2025 term. Her interpreting experience includes: educational, post secondary, video relay, job training, religious, and limited medical. She has recently made the transition to full time private practice offering both interpreting services and Deaf Ed consultation.


Summer has been a certified interpreter since 2014, currently holding a QAST 5/5. She aspires to achieve national certification from RID in the near future. She began her career as an educational interpreter for 5 years before transitioning to private practice. She has been in private practice for the past 4 years. She has a wide scope of experience in a variety of settings, including: educational, post secondary, religious, video relay, medical, mental health, platform, performance, and job training. Prior to interpreting, Summer worked in the legal field as a legal assistant in insurance defense and corporate law for 7 years, obtaining a legal studies degree from Rose State in 2009. She actively participates in Deaf events and volunteers her time to the local interpreting organization.


REFUND POLICY: You may request a refund up to 7 days prior to the event. Any requests made after July 8 will be eligible for transfer to another participant but no refunds will be issued.
